Cabin crew arm doors and cross-check

I am back in Hong Kong. An almost surreal feeling. Its hot, it humid and its hysterical. And ofcourse. Absolutely lovely and amazing. All the feelings of freedom. The feeling that anything is possible. That anything can happen. Oh how I have loved it here and met amazing friends for life. I learned so much and I laughed so much. And felt so much.

This is, however, my Hong Kong good bye tour. I am checking out. And heading back to Switzerland again. Any suggestions for a similar set up blog-name including Zurich?

Hong Kong has been a crush, a fling, a crazy passion. Intoxicating in the most fantastic way. Challenges me outside of my comfort zone. Takes me places I have never been before. I will forever have a very special place for Hong Kong in my heart.

But in the end. You are not for me. Zurich is the safe love that I needed to leave behind to go exploring. See something new. Just to come back and realise just to what extent I really do love it. And all the benefits it can offer me. I am not sure Zurich is my soul mate but at the moment, its defiantly the love of my life. Yes Paris ofcourse will always be number one but its too unpractical. And I would miss the fresh air too much. How to pick between all the amazing places in the world?

Choosing what city to spend your days in is huge. Life is in the end all the days that comes and goes. And that never comes back. You need to love where you are. I am so torn and will miss Hong Kong so much that I don´t even know what to do. But I will always look back at my time here with the biggest and most honest smile. And I have one week left! Starting with dinner and drinks in LKF tonight. Life how I love you. Crazy, overwhelming, beautiful and sometimes unfair but never boring. Now now now.

The Happiness Project

My first vacation reading was The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. She realized that "The days are long but the days are short" and decided to spend one year to get happier. Has been decribed as a mix between The Monk who sold his Ferarri and Eat Pray Love, two of my favorite readings. I def. recommend it since its very easy to read with a new and interesting approach. Yoga days ahead..

Oh dear - I really though that I would approve my yoga practice significally when moving to Asia - and though I have been to yoga class atleast once a week which is not to bad- lately has been more about cocktails than backbendings. Time for a change! This weekend I am attending the Asia Yoga Conference 2011. Hoping for great classes and inspiration!

My fist class tomorrow is with Ashley Turner and is called 5 Yogic Ways to Happiness- check out her website below:

Namaste, will report the progress. Peace and love!

The Asia Yoga Conference 9-12 June

Yayaaay ehis could come at a better time! I am so excited to get reinspired with my yoga practice. Today is the deadline for registration, I am aiming for 3 whole days of classes and lectures.

Picture from the Star Ferry from Kowloon this sunday - I love the ferry, so romantic!

Organic Raw Maca Powder

So this is my latest investment - I acctually went to Just Green on Graham Street to get some multivitamines since I have been so tiered lately. After a chat with the staff I came out with Maca powder instead. The Maca root gas been used as a stress-fighting adaptigen to increase stamina and combat fatigue. Maca is a nutrient-dense whole food packed with vitamines, plant sterols as well as many essential mierals, fatty and amino acids (all according to the package).

Well this sounds perfect! I am not the biggest fan of the taste (only just tried in my morning smoothie today....) but will hopefully get better along with vital results.

Green smoothie breakfasts and affirmations

I absolutely love my current reading - The Crazy Sexy Diet by Kris Carr that I wrote about earlier this weekend. She totally inpired me to get back on track with my green smoothies and I will have them for breakfast all day this week. Todays version had spinach, banana, mango, water and maca powder (uuu not my favorite taste, it better work against tierdness as promised...). Also, the book contains a 21 day cleanse that has a daily affirmation. I love them!

Day ones affirmation is the following: I am capable, confident, intelligent, resilient and in charge. Health and happiness are my birthrights and I accept with gratitude.

Champagne brunch

Balance, balance, balance. Finished off a great weekend with an amazing free flow brunch at Le Parlour. It was absolutely perfect. Everything you can imagine, from french mini pain au chocolat (a favorite...), cheeses to die for, amazing salmon, oysters and a dessert table worth the name. Highly recommended!

Le Parlour is at located at the Kowloon side, adess 2A Hullett House, very close to the ferry terminal. Brunch including free flow champagne and a perfect sized main was 528 HK + 10% service fee.

For lunch today

...actually my favorite dinner -today for lunch. Quinoa, broccoli, half a life salad with hummus and seeds, and some tofu. Along with the orange mango juice superyummy! Everything from Life Cafe in Soho for a total of HKD 118 and then I still have half of the food left for dinner. Did some running and a bodypump class before, when is food ever better than after the gym? For the rest of the day off, I will continue to relax and read. With Love

Sunday - planning and shopping day!

New week and new possibilities! Next week I will take advantage of the public holiday on monday to do a nice hike, a mani/pedi and maybe a yoga class and a massage. I really need to look after myself after a stressful week! My plan for the week is to try the green smoothie for breakfast. I picked up some nice fruits at Graham street, papaya (6HKD!!) and mango, that I will use along with spinach and maca powder that I also got a Just Green (more about that later) since I have been so tiered lately. Today I just had the BEST sunday with friends, never forget how much the means for energy and happiness.

The above fruits for HKD 123!

Veggies of the week

29 HKD at Graham street. Smoothie spinach and some yummy things for dinner salads!

...and the filobakes!

At the same Life-lunch, my darling Elin got the filobakes. They are just the best. Filled with broccoli, potatoes and feta cheese. Down the deli they also come with a spinach filling that is yummy too.

Veggie Ceasar at Life Cafe

Oh Life cafe, how I love, love, LOVE you. Countless brunches, juicebreaks and take-out dinners later, I have tried almost everything on the menu. However, not yet the ceasar! Thats normally nit my favorite salad, but worth I try I fugured - and it sure was! Absolutely delish with scrambles tofu, veggie bacon, parmesan cheese and a dressing to die for! A very good choice!

Healthy lunch at...Starbucks?

I finished some work at Starbucks at Alexandra House and it got lunchtime right in the middle of it. Are there any good choice there? YES! I had an OJ and the roasted vegetable salad with a english breakfast soy latte no sugar. The salad was actually superyummy for being pre-made with roasted pumpkin and potatoes, chickpeas, pine nuts ad roasted pepper. Along with a balsamic dressing. And very affordable, 87 HKD for the entire feast.

Ok I can't even begin to count the number of times I have been to Life Cafe in Soho.

My favorite favorite place to eat in Hong Kong. Foodwise, location wise, koncept wise.

However, change is good right, so after some research on happycow.com, I found my next mission to try out. The World Peace Cafe in Wanchai. They also have a little shop and a meditation studio! Review to follow!

Harmony

Hello from the author

Ok, maybe a short introduction would be in place. I am the writer and creator of this little blog, Sara. More formally I am Project Manager for a start up of a new corporate division in Hong Kong. Borned and raised in Sweden. I LOVE Hong Kong and everything there is to explore here but miss fresh air and nature like crazy. I also love yoga, good healthy food, SPAs, being outdoors, traveling, running, shopping, swimming, everything green, home decoration, spinning,

cooking, skiing, baking and most importantly my amazing family and greatest friends all around the world.

With my blog i want to inspire myself and others to a green and healty big city life. Food for exemple. I dont even have a kitchen here. What are the good take-away options? What simple dinners can you make easily even with HK standard cooking facilities - and maybe a blender :)

Where are the good hikes? On the other hand I love big city living. The shopping. The good winebars. To me, health is not about being boring, its about balance.

I want to make the absolute most out of my Hong Kong experience and be as healthy and happy as possible on the way. This is what I will write about in this blog, mixed with some feelgood messages and just everyday life. The days that goes by and that in the end form our lifes. To me, life is all about tryig to be as happy as possible every single day - Hapiness is a way of traveling, not a destination.

The Lovetarian Diet

This is so interesting! From Filippa at Raw Clarity I found this (and also borrowed the image from there). AMAZING reading and inspiration. I LOVE the word - Lovetarian. So simply and yet so brilliant.

Raw Granola

Hmm I am not sure this is going to be a new favorite. Even if I am sure Raw musli dehydrated is delish, this moist consistancy really isnt my thing. Served with cashew milk. However, also had a great shake with banana, hazselnut and nutmeg and some great green tea.

All the Little K at the Yoga Barn, Bali.

Ubud Aura Retreat Center

Lovely little place. Simple but lovely. Clean, superfriendly staff and right next door to the yoga barn. Couldnt ask for anything else.

Bali day 1 - EATING

Day one is comming to an end here in yogic world. Had an amazing day. Fresh fruit salad and tea with lime and ginger for breakfast. Went swimming. Amazing yoga 1.5 hours to follow. THen LUNCH. After 3 days of food posion symtomes, it as a blessing to finally feel hungry. And I was just at the right place. The KAFE at the Yogabarn in Ubud, Bali. Had a "Megs Bowl" with mixed greens, avocado, tofu and nuts. Ricepaper roles with raw veggies and tofu. And a green supersmoothie: Coconut water, spinach, cucumber and some raw honey. YUM.

4pm more yoga - amazing again. Home, went swimming again, really clears my head. 8pm time for meditation. In the dark Bali night and candle light. Fantastic. Learning so much. Feel so blessed. Felt so strong during my second class, reaching for the celing in the delicious Bali breeze.

Fresh flowers

I have a great flower guy on my street in Sheung Wan. Even though he has quite a small variety, I cant go anywhere else. He is just too nice and the flowers are of great quality. Brings me so much energy through the weeks. Its the small things that makes life big, right?

Green smoothie - basic

So this is my basic basic recipe for a great simple green smoothie. Mango, banana, spinach and some coconut water. Proportions are easy to estimate. I blend, pour into my Starbucks thermo cup that I never use for coffee anyway. And off I go. Its as easy as that, Takes 2 minutes. And makes you feel GREAT.
